About Transformational Coaching

What it is and is not:

  • Counseling typically seeks to resolve presenting problems through some combination of diagnosis and treatment, therapy, developing new skills, or thinking and behavioral change.

  • Life or executive coaching typically helps generate measurable fitness, finance, life, relationship, professional growth, or career goals.

  • Transformational coaching does not directly focus on resolving current problems or achieving life goals. Rather, it digs deeper and helps you discover and ennoble your true self and core identity. You can then face challenges and goals with more authenticity, courage, and capacity. All that you hope to be and do flows out of empowering the best and truest you!

Be who you were created to be,
and you will set the world on fire.
— St. Catherine of Sienna
The secret of my identity
is hidden in the love and mercy of God. . . .
— Thomas Merton

Why it works:

  • Doing is the fruit of being. We act out of who we believe we are in our deepest sense of self. All of us have developed a false self and a true self to cope with the struggles of just being human in a hard world.

  • Deep transformation requires exploring the questions of identity not just behavior: Who do you believe you are? Who do you desire to be? What strongholds of shame are robbing you from being who God already declares you are?
